[ICOM] pw-1 question

I too have a PW-1 driven by a 781. I recall an operational note either from
the PW-1 manual or one of the many Icom tech notes that stressed that the
781 must be turned on FIRST then the amp otherwise, they say CI-V
communications between the two cound fail. This may not have any relation to
your current problem however, like the others who have responded I just push
TUNE on the amp and away it goes except, I turn on my 781 first.

Well this isn't quiet the whole story. It needs a little RF to get going! Is
the manual that defficent or am I missing something? I've been switching to
cw mode, pushing the tuner button for 2 seconds and keying the rig until the
swr dips to 1. Any suggestions?
