[ICOM] pw-1 question

Don't now what kind of exciter you are using but on my PW1 and PRO II, I
just push the tune button and the rig applies a small amount of RF and the
tuner in the amp tunes just fine..

Just got a pw-1 and love it but I have one question. The manual is very
vague about how to properly activate and tune the auto tuner. It says to
push the tuner button for 2 seconds and the tuner will  start automatically.
Well this isn't quiet the whole story. It needs a little RF to get going! Is
the manual that defficent or am I missing something? I've been switching to
cw mode, pushing the tuner button for 2 seconds and keying the rig until the
swr dips to 1. Any suggestions?
