[ICOM] Icom T8A audio question

I recently picked up an Icom T8A triband HT in mint
condition. Really like this unit because of the wide
receive. Wish I had an earlier T81A that I could mod
for wide receive off the keyboard. Also, the T8A is a
little easier to use, since it doesn't have the
joystick.
Anyway, I thought that the audio sounded pretty
"tinny" coming out of the speaker on the T8A. I
especially noticed this on the classical music FM
station. It didn't sound near as good as the audio on
my T81A. I called Icom and they thought that it might
be the voice coil in the speaker going bad, or that it
got some metal shavings into it. When I hooked up a
speaker mic the audio sounded much better.
I sent the T8A off to Scott at MTS for a speaker
replacement. He just got done checking it out, and
said that the speaker looks ok. It's just that the
T8A doesnt' have the greatest speaker. I had had 2
T8As in the past, and thought that the audio was
better than what I am getting, but then again,
anything past yesterday evening gets hazy memory wise!
So what is the audio like on your T8A? And how does
it compare to a T81A if you have both. I have found
my T81A to be much better. I do trust Scott at MTS,
just wondering if maybe I got an early unit and they
replaced the speaker with something better in later
units, or maybe my memory is really going.
