[ICOM] Once again in the Dark!

AAArrrghhh!

My 736 has yet again gone to the 'dark side'.

Two of the display backlights have failed, and they are a real pain to
change.

Has anyone found a longer-lived replacement for these tubular bulbs? I have
considered white LED's, but can't find any with a wide enough pattern to
cover the entire section. For those not familiar with the display layout in
this rig, it is a segmented plastic frame, similar to an ice-cube tray, that
uses a tubular incandescent lamp in each section. You need to remove the
face from the radio, and completely disassemble the display (which is
hardwired, and NOT modular) in order to change these lamps. Inevitably, one
of these forays into the radio is going to damage the ribbon.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!
