[ICOM] PW-1 and Omni 6

Hi Steve,

You may not even get that far. I am informed that without the ALC line
connected, the PW1 will trip on ALC fault every time the exciter is keyed.

If you can get into the Omni VI and bring out the internal ALC line via a
buffer, such that the ALC range on the external line is 0 to -4V
negative-going, we can go on to the next step. If the Omni's "Serial Port"
presents an electrical interface similar to that of an Icom transceiver, you
should be able to plug it into the PW1 CI-V jack. You will need to set the
data rate in the radio to 4.8 or 9.6 kB/s.

Cheers for now, 73,

Thanks for the reply Adam. The Omni VI has two serial ports. One is called
the "Interface Port". This is a 25 pin D connector that "allows direct
RS-232 interface with a personal computer." The other is a 1/8" jack that
"allows 2 wire computer control using TTL Logic levels." This is called the
"Serial Port".
So you see why this is confusing! I can't feed that RS-232 port into the
PW-1's 3 mm port since they don't exactly match up. The "Serial Port" is
TTL. Is that supposed to match up with a CT-17? If so, then why not just run
the 1/8" connector directly to the PW-1 as we do with the Icom rigs and skip
the CT-17 interface?
