The ICOM T8A is a great radio, I have one. Unfortunately it does not
meet NTIA compliance and is therefore not useable by either MARS or
CAP. MARS does have a limited exemption but that is going to run out
making the radio useless except for HAM Radio.
For those interested in just which radios are considered in compliance
with NTIA go to the CAP National Technology Center web site. Follow the
prompts to HF and VHF lists. This listing is also being used by other
Federal agencies for their selection of compliant radios.
