I did the mod in 4 to 5 hours on a friend's 2KL. I also did the fan and DC
converter mods at the same time, an additional hour. Note - the mod kit
DOES NOT change the band switch or front panel. I understand the export
model front panel is no longer available, but you might check with ICOM to
be sure. If that is true and you want the full 10/12 meter stuff, your only
option may be to buy a used export unit.
That said, I bought mine in Europe. It was a deal I couldn't refuse - even
on Army pay. I am sure glad I did it now.
