[ICOM] IC-2KL mod for 10/12 meter

Hi Bert,
Glad the info was helpful. My understanding is that the mod is a 6 to 8 hour
job.
If you can find a nice IC-2KL in the Canadian used market, you may be better
off. All 2KL's sold by Canadian dealers were the standard version with all
bands. I bought mine from Atlantic Ham Radio in July 1989.
Cheers for now, 73,

Hi Adam,
Thanks for info. I have downloaded the zip file, it took a while, and have
checked out the mod. Seems to be quite a few hours involved and difficult to
make it look like a factory version. Especially the front panel and the
manual band switch.
I believe I could do the mod if the price is right, but would prefer to find
a unit with all bands. Will contact ICOM in Bellevue and see if they have a
mod kit and what the price is. Thanks again.

Hi Bert,
You can download more detailed information on the IC-2KL 10/12m enabling
procedure (and other IC-2KL documentation) here, on a "good" QSL.net day:
http://www.qsl.net/icom/manuals.html
Icom America Parts in Bellevue, WA may still have the mod kit. They will
probably be reluctant to ship to Canada, in which case you will need to
arrange shipment via a US contact. They do accept credit card orders.
Cheers for now, 73,
Adam VA7OJ/AB4OJ

I'm considering buying an IC-2KL that is missing coverage for 10/12 meter
band. What's involved in a mod to cover this band and is there a mod kit
available? If so, who would sell such a kit? Thanks.
Bert, VE3OBU
