[ICOM] Icom 746 pro Tuning knob problem

Well it finally happened - my baby's got a hiccup
The tuning knob of my 746 pro has a spot at the 7 O'clock position where the
digit just jumps back and forth between two adjacent digits until the knob
has moved on past the fuzzy spot.

Is this something that if fixable without a new $$$ part? Clean an encoder -
maybe?
