Does it do this on CW, FM or RTTY? Might be some RFI getting into the power 
supply regulator. Grab a voltmeter and measure the voltage right at the 
radio's back when this happens.
Like Rick mentioned could be some RFI also getting into the CPU.  Lastly if 
you have access to one transmit into a dummy load and see if the problem 
persists.

I have an Icom 706 mg2 and it's developed a problem that comes and goes....I
