[ICOM] Icom T90A Handheld - use during charging?

I use an Icon T22A HT, for a charity 5k 10k run/walk, off the car
battery. The HT becomes quite hot on transmit after about 20 seconds on
high power. No problems at low power (0.5W). The Ni-Cd for the T22A is
rated at 7.2V.
