It is almost to the letter the exact same procedure. It takes about
15 minutes and will not cause anything to explode. And even "shade
tree" hams can do it. An alternative procedure is to tune to WWV
until the tone on USB and LSB are equal. You don't even need a
counter to do that. It is a good idea to check the frequency of the
master osc at the test point after adjusting "by ear".

I have the service manual for the Pro available and will be happy
to send that page as an attachment to anyone who might need it.

I've been in the commercial communications business for nearly
20 years now, I'm not a shade tree ham, lest I be accused of
such just for piping up on the subject.

Are folks just afraid to do even the simplest alignments on their
gear any more? Even on some of the classic radio groups I am seeing
more and more folks who want someone to fix their radio for them
even if it is something just as simple as a tube going bad. What has
happened to hams as for as being at least a little technically
knowledgeable?

Errrm, sorry for the rant.... but still.... radios don't bite. Unless you
grab the high voltage parts of them, that is.
