[ICOM] New Thread: Repair of ICOM IC-27H (or IC-27A)

The problem (so far) is with one individual segment
of one individual display (top horizontal segment) of
the 1 MHz display.

My original display unit (DS1) progressively failed
one segment at a time until the frequency could
no longer be determined. The replacement display
unit (now beginning to fail) cost me $78 back in 1994.

This is the reason I am searching for individual LED
segments. I simply don't want to eventually simply
have to pitch my IC-27H into the trash bin.

The IC-27A has a multiplexed display and each segment
(a through g) has a current limiting resistor in the vicinity
of the 4511 driver chip.

I've seen these increase in value (from the nominal 39
ohms) and it will lower the current, and therefore the
brightness, of the display segment. However, the symptom
is that the same segment is less bright in each digit. Is this
what you see? Or is an entire digit dim? Before I condemned
a digit, I'd make sure the digit drive is good.
