Hello Mike,

Find yourself a new squelch pot, some patience and about an hour. I think 
you're gonna need all three. I replaced both pots in an IC-37A a while back and 
it wasn't exactly a pleasant experience, if I recall correctly. It's one of 
those cases where it seems as if they threw the pots on a bench and built the 
radio around them! When I think of that experience, it reminds me of cleaning the 
carburetor jets in a Honda Shadow 1100 . . . You remove the seat and . . .
