[Icom] 746PRO Protection Diode Fix Confirm?

Joe,

The bad news is that many are of the opinion that the
diode mod is, in essence, a "feel good" mod, or ICOM's
attempt to demonstrate that they took a "positive
step" to correct this problem. 

Research done with regard to this problem indicates
that the real problem is a design issue, and lies with
abnormally high thermal dissipation in a PA driver IC
which causes early failure of the device. There have
been non-ICOM fixes published, to address this issue.

It would be interesting to see how many users have had
failures subsequent to the diode "ESD" mod being
performed.
