HI David,

Icom Canada is a step away from being useless. Ever since they lost Jim
as the service technician they are unable to properly repair radios,
send information as they say they will etc.

If you can get someone in the US to get you information I suspect it
will be much less frustrating.

On a completely different note where in forestry do you work I do a lot
of work in the Kamloops forest district.

I spoke with the service tech at ICOM Canada regarding the mis-adjusted
RF
section (see note below) affecting the noise floor. He said he's never
heard of that happening on any MKIIG. He asked me to get more
information on
this and get back to him. Would someone who understands this a bit
better
than I please provide some more info. It is possible that this may be
the
root cause of my noise problems and I sure would like to fix it.

There is an internal RF gain section in mentioned the Service Manual. If
this section has been over-adjusted (or mis-adjusted at some point) I
imagine the noise floor would indeed be way up there. Perhaps one of the
techies can comment on that?
