I spoke with the service tech at ICOM Canada regarding the mis-adjusted RF
section (see note below) affecting the noise floor. He said he's never
heard of that happening on any MKIIG. He asked me to get more information on
this and get back to him. Would someone who understands this a bit better
than I please provide some more info. It is possible that this may be the
root cause of my noise problems and I sure would like to fix it.

There is an internal RF gain section in mentioned the Service Manual. If
this section has been over-adjusted (or mis-adjusted at some point) I
imagine the noise floor would indeed be way up there. Perhaps one of the
techies can comment on that?
