I have to agree with Dick on the exhaust system.  On my Grand Prix (2000) both of them are in isolated rubber shock isolators.  Running pieces of brass strap to the frame, reduced my noise on the 706IIg from S7 to S2.  Braid is ok, but after driving through rain and crud, becomes little pieces of wire that get corroded quite quickly.

As has been stated earlier in other places, as Dick says, these become antennas and DO radiate.....noise..!

I have found that in my case, this reduced the noise more than anything else.
