Mac....Aircraft comm spacing is 25khz in the USA and 8.33khz in Europe.  Has been that way for over 5 years now.  Not enough spectrum.  In the USA as you stated, 118.00 to 136.975.  In Europe, courtesy of ICAO, the frequencies that are 8.33 are called channels.  If you look at the control heads of the radios, trying to determine your "Exact" frequency, is almost unbearable.
