225.000 - 399.95 MHz IS the UHF air/ground band.
It will eventually go to 399.975 when the UHF spectrum
gets crowded enough to go to 25 kHz spacing. I believe
the VHF aircraft comm band from 118.000 to 137.975 is
already going to 12.5 kHz spacing in Europe. It WILL
eventually come to North America also.

Randy,
Last I looked, and it was the IC-207, the receiver front end switched while
in the air craft frequency range. They also used an existing part as the AM
detector. I don't know about the IC-208 but would suspect the same scheme is
being used and doubtful you can switch to am between 230 - 400 MHz.
