[ICOM] IC 756 Display

Dick,
I spoke with someone in the Icom booth at Dayton this year about the
756 display
problem. He repeated what has been widely published about the display
not being
available from the original manufacturer (Sanyo I believe) as the reason
none were
available from Icom. He did tell me in most cases that it was not the
actual display
that failed but a cold solder connection(s) on the attached circuit
board. He indicated
that a competent technician could repair the board and evidently the
competent
technicians at the Icom home office are doing just that. Maybe the US
and European
facilities will catch up soon. Had I know all this I might have held on
to my 756 a bit
longer. I sold it before the display failed and dropped the value. 73
