Gosh, you mean the Icom tech was correct and the dealer had really fresh
stock and is not a crook after all? Will wonders never cease? . . . When it comes
to hams going off halfcocked, I think not.

So, now, I suppose the band police among us will show up to tell us how bad
it is to have a rig that is capable of transmitting out of band. Well, let's
see, I knew a fellow once and his Kenwood TS-520 would do that and so would his
Drake twins and so would his Icom IC-38A and they all arrived in that
condition from the factory. He didn't have a single OO slip or any FCC correspondence
to show for his ownership and operation of those rigs. Nor did he have any
from the dozen or so other rigs that he had modified for greater receive and
transmit coverage or from the military rigs that he owned. I wonder how he managed
to stay out of trouble with all of that capability and temptation? Could it
be for the same reason that he didn't jump off any buildings or towers even
though he had both the means and the opportunity to do so?

Hang in there boys,

Bill
