[ICOM] Query: 775 Problem

A friend of mine has the following problem with an IC-775 he just bought.

"I only get volume in the FM mode. The other modes have almost no volume 
and there seems to be no transmit on all bands. I did a reset on the 
radio but still the same, any help???"

I told him this group would be more likely than anyone to know of 
probable causes, and I'll be happy to forward any suggestions.  Many
