[ICOM] R7000 receiver- changing backup battery.

Dave,

I don't think the R-7000 memory battery backs anything up other than what 
you programmed into memory. Not all Icoms had the operating parameters 
backed by the memory battery.
The R-71 / R-71A dies have the ram unit, but not the R-7000.
You will not have to do anything to the CPU unless you desire to save that 
information programmed into the memories now. Might be better to pick up a 
CT-17 type device and a program to read out the memories into a computer 
and reload them after you change the memory battery.
