The antenna rod is a plain solid steel alloy conductor.
The base is built like a brick Shouse.  The set includes
metal straps for your car bumper (?).  The AH-2 and AH2a
were designed, I understand, for using on small boats and
the like.  It's salt and rust proof, and the base
insulator looks military to me.  I've had one for years,
but never once mounted it on anything.  There it lays.
