[ICOM] Dreaming of the Perfect '706

Maybe you all are referring to the way it picks up noise and opens
squelch on FM? That's my complaint. If the 706 had a 'noise squelch'
that opened only when the signal reached a set 'noise free' level, I'd
be happy. The present signal strength activated squelch makes it
frustrating and annoying to use mobile while on the FM modes. The
squelch pops open every time you are under a noisy power line, etc.

Same complaint with the IC-746. The squelch should work just like a
standard FM mobile when on FM.

It would not have cost much more to place a noise squelch type circuit
in there when they first designed it.
