Because it was built for the American Market.
This is a country where we boil water to make tea. Then we put ice in it to
cool it. Then we add sugar to make it sweet. Then we add lemon to make it
sour. But what would you expect from a country where we drive on a parkway,
and park in a driveway?
Actually, Icom is probably just as confused trying to name the radios.
