Real simple. Go into the initial set mode by holding the " SET " button
while powering up the IC0718. Using the up or down button go through the
options Look at MoDE and make sure both RX and TX are displayed
for CW, it should be by default from the factory but you are there anyway.
The IC-718 has the ability to have its Modes of operation set to RX, Turned
off or Fully enabled both RX and TX.
Now again using the up or down buttons go through the other options until
you come to CW PADDL. Here using the main tuning know you will turn off the
internal keyer. Rotate the tuning know until you see "oF" in the display.
Now the 718 is set up for straight key use which a bug essentially is. Now
that part is set. Turn off the 718 and turn it back on to return to normal
operation mode.
Put the IC-718 into CW mode using the mode button. Now press the " SET "
button to enter the " SET " mode. Use the up or down arrow until you come
to the BK -- IN selection. Rotate the main tuning knob, you will see in the
lower right corner of the display of for OFF, SE for Semi Breakin and FL
for Full breakin (QSK). Set it for either SE of FL and the IC-718 will key
everytime he closes the contact on his Bug.
Hope this helps.
