Bob , Sounds like a heat or power supply problem. Make sure that it is well
vented and check your power supply. Change to another power supply or a
charged 12v battery like a car or deep cycle battery and see if still does
it. If it does it with another power source , has low swr and is well vented
then its internal. Now some of Icoms smaller radios spike at full power then
drops to the lower setting while transmitting but this is only a momentary
