You can purchase USB-to-serial-port converters from an array of
suppliers, including Belkin and VSCom. Alternatively, you can now
purchase a USB CI-V level converter -- see
http://www.microham.com/USB%20interfaces.html .
http://www.eham.net/articles/8192 describes a homebrew USB CI-V level
converter. If you go this route, interpose a non-inverting
open-collector driver between pin 28 of the USB module and the CI-V bus;
otherwise, you risk premature part failure in devices that drive your
CI-V bus -- including the device in your transceiver.

Thanks for all the responses but I guess I should have mentioned that my
laptop has only USB and no serial interface. Does any know how to do
this?
