[ICOM] Icom M700PRO

Hi all,

I've just recently gained my UK amateur licence M0EMR, and acquired an Icom M700PRO marine SSB. (I'm soon to be Maritime mobile). 

My question is simple I guess. Can this rig be chipped/altered to transmit on amateur bands? If so, how could I go about it. Apologies, being a complete novice in this area, but if I can use this rig it would be great as it is already installed on the boat.
