   Yep - isn't it amazing how a 10 year old design is still so popular that
   after discontinuing it, Icom had to bring it back?

   That just tells me that they did something right.  I have not seen brands K
   or Y have that kind of success!

   It is not perfect.  None are.  But in my mind it is near the top of a pretty
   short list.

   Good point on the 1750 hz Tone.  I just used to whistle it up.  You only
   need the tone to open it, and once active the tone isn't needed till it is
   off for a few minutes and resets.

I've got a mod in mine which enables the 1750Hz tone and 430-440 TX.
It's been forever, so I don't remember details, but I think MTS did it
for me.  I think I lost some US-oriented feature, but don't remember
(automatic offset?, maybe).
