[Icom] Icom 706mkIIG fan modification

There is a modification for the 706 that is basically a small resistor to
keep the cooling fan turning at a slow, quiet, but supposedly useful speed.
The purpose is to limit the temperature rise during receive to a value below
where the fan normally cuts on.

My question.  Has anyone in the group performed this mod and is it
worthwhile?
My 706 is out of warranty so nothing will be lost there.
