I just use split mode for repeater setup in my 706MKII. Dialing about the
offset frequency was to much of a pain in the 706MKII. I generally use VFO
A for RX and VFO B for TX. Its easier to me than using the offset functions.
However the 706MKIIG has an auto repeater function which will set the TX
frequency in the normal direction for the repeater sub band, now all you
have to do is set the tone encoder on the right tone frequency in the Quick
set menu
