I can't vouch for this in any way related to an Icom, but let me tell
you what happened last week.
I have a Swan 350 that used a Swan 117 XC power supply. The PS blew a
capacitor so I replaced the full set of Caps in it and put it back into
operation. Two weeks later, I left the rig on all night when I went to
bed. The power supply transformer melted down and two diodes on the
circuit board were totally toasted. I was awakened to the smell of
smoke which completely filled the room it was in. By the time I reached
the rig, there was no electricity to it. There was also none to my
computer UPS. Further investigation revealed that a 10 amp fuse never
blew but the rig finally triggered the 15 amp breaker on my power strip.
Go figure!
Two fuses? Maybe that's not such a bad idea! Might have saved me the
loss of a power supply.
