The theory is if the battery's heavy ground line opens up, the entire
vehicle electrical system will attempt to run through your radio to
ground. Not too bad until you try to start the vehicle and the cranking
current smokes your cable and potentially starts a fire.
A very inexpensive piece of insurance.
