I know your comments are tongue in cheek but I'll bet future significant
upgrades to this radio for some time will be to the radio's software through
flash enhancements--it has a serial port and a network connector on the
rear. High end digital cameras have already gone this route--some can be
upgraded through their memory cards placed in a PC card reader.
