[Icom] No CW - need help!

I am a new 756 PRO II owner, only three days and I am getting 
acquainted with the rig.  I have noticed that I am not getting any 
response from my paddle with the electronic keyer in the PRO.  It is 
a Kent paddle and I am using the front 'ELEC-KEY" jack on the front 
of the PRO.  I get nothing.  I am using a 1/8" plug in a 1/4" plug 
(both stereo).  I also used the CW keyer plug and connected the 
common with the right and then the left contact in the plug - again 
nothing.  The PRO is set on 14,050 and CW (running into a dummy load).

The settings on the menu are: repeat time - 1s; dot/dash ratio 1:3; 
rise time 4ms; paddle polarity - normal; keyer type - elec-key; and, 
mic up/ down - off.

I'm wondering if I am suffering operator error and have merely 
overlooked something.  Any advice would be appreciated.

Otherwise, I really like the PRO, so far.
