I have two comments here. We all have several friends that own one of these
radios, and my experience (as limited as it is) has seen more problems with
the FT100D then the 706MKIIG. Now my opinion is bias by the fact that I own
two 706MKIIG's, one in my truck for three years and another on my motorcycle
for two years with no problems. Icom quality is no question in my mind. The
other comment is Yaesu's claim that the 100D has a TCXO, but the
specifications show both radios have a frequency stability of <1 PPM. The
optional CR-282 (TCXO for 706) improves this specification to <.5 PPM. So
although Yaesu claims the 100D has a TCXO, what difference does it make,
when the specs are the same? Maybe I don't understand, I'm not an electronic
genius. Bill WZ4GW
