Some thoughts:  (1)  You may want to connect a accurate
50 Ohm dummy load to the transmitter output, then activate
the auto-tuner.  Read the built-in SWR meter.  This will
adjust the source impedance to 50 Ohms.  (Broad banded
output networks are not famous for providing a solid 50 Ohm
source impedance unless they're tweaked a bit with a tuner.
That could be why these companies are so eager to put an
auto-tuner in their radios.)

(2) Then, without changing anything, insert the external
SWR meters one at a time.  If the coax's are short, and the
external meters are for 50 Ohm measurements, their readings
should be comparable to the internal SWR meter.  Don't expect
to get an absolute agreement, there are many parameters which
are outside practical control.  Try to do all this in the
middle of a hamd band, perhaps 80 or 40 is best.
