Thanks Dave,
Yep, I'll take you up on the manual copy. Either via E-mail (I have high
speed access) or snail mail at the address below. Looking forward to
getting both rigs up an on the air. I want to work AO-10 before it Dies all
together. Boy, do we need another one like that one.

Mike -

I just turned my 251 on to refresh my memory. The receive light only
stays on only when the squelch is open plus the squelch works in SSB
mode also. Try turning the squelch all the way counter-clockwise and
see if there is some sign of life there.

It's a good performing old radio. It doesn't have all the bells and
whistles of the new all-mode rigs, but I always get good audio reports
on SSB with the stock hand mic. The VOX and noise blanker work very
well. It automatically gives you the 600 KHz offset for 2-meter
repeaters (after reading the instructions a few times and setting it up
right, that is). There doesn't seem to be a provision for a CCTSS tone
encoder. You could probably connect an out-board tone generator via
that accessory jack. Just remember to drop the mic gain on FM, or it
sounds really bad.

Best of all, the prices of these old gems don't get all inflated on ebay
like the rigs with 200+ memories and colorized displays!

If you need a copy of the 251A manual, let me know.
