[Icom] PRO II Audio Input

Folks,

Has anyone been able to identify the electrical difference (if any)
between the mic connection on the front of the radio and the Modulator
input accessory connector on the back of the radio? I assume various
amplification and processing stages are bypassed when interfacing to the
accessory connector, since the mic gain control has no affect on it.
I'm curious to know the difference in freq response, and what is the
recommended approach (interface and settings) for a wider better
sounding audio using this rig.
