Malcolm,
Before you go to the trouble of installing the rig and antenna you might
want to make a quick survey of the vehicle's noise. I have an '89
Nissan and the electric fuel pump noise gives me a good S7-9 signal all
the time.
You can make a 'snoop' coil with about 10' of RG58. Attach it to a loop
coil of about 3-5 turns (3" diameter) and you should be able to sniff
around the fuel tank connector, the engine's control computer, the
ignition harness etc.
Most of my noise is from the fuel pump...I'm looking at buying a new
truck but I'm going to do the survey on any vehicle before I buy it.
Hopefully your 2002 Nissan will be better suppressed than the 89-92 models.
