I have used a system similar to this MANY times. I started
with a pair of 26 ah Gel-cells, they were medical pulls.
That started the whole battery thing for me.

I use it in the field to power portable radios.

Sometimes I use it for my -=< ICOM >=- IC-706.

Sometimes I use it for my -=< ICOM >=- IC-820.

Sometimes I use it for my -=< ICOM >=- IC-901A.

Previously, I have used if to power a lot of things
when I was deployed in the army to strange places
around the world.

I used it to power my -=< ICOM >=- IC-735 in Saudi Arabia.

I used it to power my -=< ICOM >=- IC-251A at Davis Monthan AFB.

I have even used solar panels to keep it charged.

Powering portable -=< ICOM >=- radios from batteries like this
is easy and convenient. I believe a lot of -=< ICOM >=- owners
may benefit from this idea, maybe even for FIELD DAY. And
using small portable -=< ICOM >=- radios like the IC-706 is what
forced the competition like -=< Yaesu >=- to build the FT-100.

In fact, battery systems like this when used to power QRP
radios like the -=< ICOM >=- IC-703 may last several days
without charging.

Today, I have several deep cycle batteries on line, and 100
amps (peak) of solar panels. with a 75 amp regulator. It
runs much of my station. Most of my station is -=< ICOM >=-.
