[Icom] New Icom 756 Pro II - Low Power Output on SSB

Hi John,

The PA is rated at 100W output. You can check this by selecting CW or RTTY
and transmitting into a 50-ohm resistive load with an external wattmeter in
line. If the PA delivers 100W CW, it will produce 100W PEP in SSB mode. The
Po scale on the Pro2 meter should read 100% for 100W CW output.

Under no circumstances should the RF power output be increased beyond 100W.
Apart from the risk of damage to the RF power devices, 3rd- and 5th-order
IMD degrades rapidly for Po > 100W.

You can check SSB PEP output using an accurate peak-reading RF power meter
or an oscilloscope. Test procedures are available here:

Subject: [Icom] New Icom 756 Pro II - Low Power Output on SSB

Hello All,

Just purchased a new Pro II, man what a radio.
Anyway, to the point. The power output on SSB is running between 60 and 80
watts.
What is the procedure for raising the output up to 100+ watts?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
