[Icom] RE: 756 & blitzen

Makes a big difference if utilities are underground... If there is a direct
hit nearby, it burns all the utility wires up in the ground and it cost the
homeowner several thousand $$$$ to have everything replaced.

Been there, just paid for that very thing about a month ago.  The
underground electric service to the house was 3000.00 alone.  Still have DSL
phone, cable, alarm and yard and patio lighting to go yet..

Had it been overhead, the cost would have been under 100.00

Of course this is Icom related sine all the Icoms run on AC power here... Hi

Hi,
My house in the city and cottage out in the Rockies have all
cables/wires under ground. Haven't had
electrical storm problem so far. Looks like it makes difference when it
is underground.
