Hi Don,

Sorry - in my haste, I misread the IC-756Pro2 block diagram. The Pro2 does
indeed have a 1.6 ~ 2.0 MHz BPF, and a 0.03 ~ 1.6 MHz LPF.

Short of rewriting the firmware, I can see no way of modifying the radio to
allow the preamps to be switched in below 1.6 MHz. Bypassing the attenuator
ahead of the LPF, and using an external active preselector, may be an
acceptable compromise.

The old Racal RA.17 brings back a lot of memories. I worked for Racal in
South Africa in the early sixties, and often had occasion to use the RA.17,
RA.117 and the companion MA.79 exciter. That was great equipment in its day.
