It's good to hear that someone is concerned about the proper
use of the RF spectrum. As many of you know, the ICOM series
are adaptable to services other that amateur radio. In fact,
marine HF was an early sustainer for ICOM. And ICOM equipment
can be found associated with many of the military forces all
over the world. I do not support out-of-band operation by
amateur stations under any circumstances. Any work with which
I am even remotely familiar must not be identified as being
associated in any way with WB2CPN, the amateur station. For
experimental purposes, and for generating RF test signals, a
high grade transceiver is a welcome addition to the other tools
which are available. Your comments are encouraging.
