[Icom] which is better? IF or AF dsp filters

Hart,

IF-DSP filters are the way to go - especially if they are inside the AGC
loop, as is the case in the IC-756Pro/Pro II and IC-746Pro (IC-7400).

Less expensive HF transceivers such as the IC-706 Mk IIG and the IC-718 are
supplied with an optional AF DSP module, which offers limited
functionality - noise reduction and auto-notch. The main IF filters are
crystal  and ceramic types.
