Ref: The Icom Effect
The Icom effect is true, I saw one close up, and it worked for me. I sold all the Collins and Drake gear and stepped into the 21th century, with numerious Icoms ranging from the 730 thru a couple of 756 PRO's and PRO II's.
Darn, ham radio is fun again because I can really tell there are stations out there and I thought all the hams had died. I just could not hear them.

This effect is characterized by;
(1) Slack-jawed amazement.
(2) Delight of hidden feature discovery.
(3) A sense of awe in the radios performance.
(4) Overwhelming feeling of pride, in owning one.
(5) Slight feeling of pity for all other radios.
(6) Great and building feeling of power and authority, in having the most powerful receiving tools available.
Have you experienced the "756" effect?
